PlayStation business almost gave me heart attack. I was introduced to this business by my cousin. He told me that one of his friends has bought a Toyota TX from the business. I felt jealous.
I was running an executive salon by then. I converted the room into a PlayStation and bought 4 machines first. The capital was Ksh 350,000. The first 2 months were good and due to that experience, I added more machines.
Business was booming until I employed 2 people to work for me. I was making Ksh 6,000 to Ksh15,000 per day especially when schools were closed.
But the worst happened one day. I woke up to go and open the business only to find the room empty. All the machines had been stolen. I lost over Ksh700,000. I had not figured out this because the area is secure. I even asked watchmen around whether they saw the thieves and everyone said no.
It forced me to take a loan and withdraw all my savings to buy other machines. This time I installed CCTV in the premise and hired a watchman. This forced me to spend over Ksh10,000 monthly.
Ever since I enhanced security, my business has been safe. But I have discovered that the business is not booming all the time. When schools are closed, I make up to Ksh20,000 per day but when they are open, I make as little as Ksh500 per day. But on average, my income is Ksh 1,500 to Ksh3,000 per day. I pay Ksh 15,000 monthly rent. All my expenses are Ksh 35,000 per month. My net profit is Ksh 30,000 to Ksh100,000 per day.
Apart from the challenge of security, I also get harassed by the police who come to ask for kitu kidogo. But since I am in good terms with them,my business is moving smoothly.
