Nairobi landlords don’t want South Sudanese to rent their apartments. Sources say that the landlords as first to know whether one is a Kenyan or South Sudanese before renting their house. It’s believed that they (Sudanese) live with large families. You will find one person living with 20 people in one house. By the time they leave your house, they have destroyed everything in the house.
It’s also claimed that when one of them dies, he/she is buried inside the house. The landlord will only discover that then the Sudanese vacate the house—he may also not discover because they dig a grave inside the house.
Due to bad reviews about the Sudanese, landlords in Kenya rarely allow Sudanese to rent their houses. If they allow them, they give strict instructions.
