Moses Kuria is a Kenyan well known politician and the cabinet secretary for investments, trade and industry having been appointed by President William Ruto.

Early Life

Moses Kuria Kiaria was born in 1971 at Gatundu south constituency, Kiambu County in Kenya. He is 52 years old.

Education Background

Moses Kuria joined Githuya primary school in Gatundu in 1983, after he finished his primary education he was admitted in Ituru secondary school in 1987, he later enrolled to the University of Nairobi in 1993 to pursue the bachelor of commerce degree. It is while in university that he started his political career serving as the treasurer of the student’s organization of Nairobi University (SONU).

Career

Moses Kuria worked as an auditor at the family finance and building society in 1994, he has also worked at standard chartered bank, the Waman Info Services in Dubai as the Chief operating officer and as the manager at Al Rajhi bank in Saudi Arabia.

In 2013 Moses Kuria was elected as the Member of Parliament for Gatundu south after the death of Jossy Ngugi. In 2017 Moses Kuria was re-elected as Member of Parliament at the general elections to serve for a 5year parliamentary term as the Jubilee Party Member. In 2022 general election Moses Kuria was succeeded by Gadriel kagombe. Moses Kuria later joined the Hustlers movement led by President William Ruto. He was at the front line of criticizing the former president Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga building bridge initiative (BBI). Moses Kuria became the leader of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) and took the lead in pushing Ruto presidential run in the Mt. Kenya region, he also promoted the vice president’s bottom-up economic message. After Moses Kuria was kicked out of PEP in 2021. He later went and founded a new party by the name Chama Cha Kazi.

In 2022 general election, which Moses Kuria was vying for governorship of kiambu County. Unfortunately Moses lost the race to Kimani Wa Matangi which he accepted the defeat stating that he would proceed to pursue a different course in the private sector. On 27 September 2022, Moses Kuria was appointed as Cabinet Secretary for the investments, trade and industry.

Controversy

Moses Kuria once admitted to accepting $1000 in parliament to support the selection of the majority leader. He stated that such inducements is something that happens regularly. He made remarks in response to the charges that he and two others had been censured for supposed payments to supporting the BBI.

Moses Kuria has been called out multiple times for using hate rhetoric’s and he spent one night in jail for the fail to follow the COVID-19 regulations

Moses Kuria was admitted in Karen hospital and underwent various procedures. He was visited by different guest in the hospital i.e. Raila Odinga, Steven Kalanzo Musyoka, among others. Wishing him quick recovery, although the Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru had different opinion from the others, she went ahead to say that she wish Moses Kuria to remain in hospital which she sent via whatsapp message.

Personal Life

Moses Kuria is married to a beautiful lady by the name Joyce Njambi. Together they have two sons.

Business and Ventures

Fanaka TV is owned by Moses Kuria, the station was launched in April 2017 with the aim to provide employment opportunity for young people. He also owned Emerging Human Capital; a company involved in transportation of workers from Kenya the Middle East. Although the company was closed in 2018. Moses Kuria has also invested in Real estate.
