If you are going to buy a TV from Luthuli Avenue, chances are that you might be scammed. There are numerous cases of Kenyans who have lost money in this street. To avoid being scammed, here is what to do:
Buy from a Somali
Go direct to a shop attended by a Somali. Somalis are reliable and offer genuine items. If you see a shop owned by a Kikuyu or any black Kenyan, be careful.
After buying the TV,carry yourself
Don’t allow anyone who is outside the shop to carry the TV for you, carry for yourself. Or if someone must carry, let it be the one who sold for you or someone inside the shop.
Always check the prices of the TV online before going to buy one from Luthuli
If 32 inch TV costs Ksh 27,000 online, you should buy one at Luthuli for Ksh 23,000 to Ksh27,000. In case they tell you it’s Ksh 15,000,run. If the deal is too good, think twice.
Always be there when they are packaging
Once you buy the TV and they test to see it’s working, don’t allow to package it in your absence—ensure you are there to know whether it’s the same TV they put into the box.
Sales Warranty
They must provide a sales warranty. It should also be accompanied with a receipt and phone numbers of the sellers.
No extra cost after paying for the TV
Once you pay for the TV, they should not tell you to add more money for extra items to be installed in the TV. If they quote Ksh20,000, that is the only money to pay.
