Gladys Chania was a respected politician, psychologist, and community leader who had built a successful career helping vulnerable people. Together with her husband, George Mwangi, a civil engineer and businessman, they spent more than 20 years building a family, raising three children, and creating a successful business empire.

Their marriage gradually deteriorated, and during that period George reportedly began a relationship with Lucy Muthoni, a local teacher. According to court documents and investigators, the relationship became serious, with George introducing Lucy to some of his family members and reportedly expressing his intention to make her his second wife.
Gladys didn’t take that affair lightly and it led to growing conflict between the couple. In October 2022, Gladys started a plan to end the nonsense George was bringing, She felt betrayed & couldn’t take it any more. Anger got the best of her, she felt that she needed to teach him a lesson…
And it’s the events of Oct 8th 2022 that pushed her to the edge when George called her to accompany him to an event at Kimunyu and on arrival she found Lucy driving their Toyota Hilux.
That was an egg on her face & fueled her thirst for revenge.
She attended the event but left earlier than the two. George on the other hand shared drinks with his friends in the company of Lucy and after a beautiful evening they left for Mang’u where he dropped Lucy at her apartment promising to take her out the next day.
What he didn’t know was that these were his last moments alive..He parked his car at home and took the stairs up to his death location.
His bedroom where Gladys Chania lay in wait….
As he retired to bed, she striked him with a metal bar killing the tycoon instantly at a place he built and thought was his safest spot…
The next time the tycoon was being seen in public he was wrapped up in a TV carton boxes at Kieni Forest in Kiambu.As George Mwangi lay in his pool of blood right in the room he built to make love to his wife turned killer, the view of the bloody scene threw Gladys into a panic mode.
Anger had got the best of her & this looked like a bad dream.
A dream she wished could reverse itself as she crept into fear & sadness. However the body needed to be disposed so there was no time for self pity.
Yes she was feeling bad but ain’t no way she was going down easily.
So she put her emotions aside & focused on finishing the job. The easy part was done now but the hard one was just beginning which is the part where you Get Away with Murder.
Knowing that only a few have gotten away with it, she forged an escape route.
From that moment onwards, her defence towards anyone calling her to ask about the engineer’s whereabouts she would answer that George left his home in the morning for a walk leaving his phone & car behind at 10.00AM .
Since then she has not set her eyes on him
A good story to set the sleuths on a wild goose chase as she looked for ideas to secretly dispose the body without catching any attention.
To act as a body bag she looked for plastic disposal bag papers. Being a mama & not familiar with this game, she also needed a help but from someone who could keep secret for his silence.
And that was to be her new farmhand Morris Kamu. Due to inadequance of storage material, she resorted to using her TV boxes, sacks & cement bags to conceal the body which she was going to carry to the dumping site.
However she needed to first attend an interview on Kameme TV just to stick to the script that everything was okay & the tycoon wasn’t missing b4 she could dump him..
So she went to advise couples on TV for good marriage.
And afterwards she left the studio , called George’s mom Wanjiru to tell her that her son was missing and that she was going to report that to the police
However she went home first…
To get rid of the body and sought the help of her farmhand who loaded the body of George on his car and set off to Kieni Forest Gatundu North where she dumped him.
Right there, Later on she filed a missing persons on October 11, 2022 at 8pm at Mwea Police Post in Gatundu North vide OB No. 18/11/10/2022 as she went home to try and now dispose the bloody sheets..
However she was not lucky enough b/c sleuths moved into the house the next morning tracing the tycoon’s last steps and surprisingly recovered blood soaked bed sheets, curtains and clothes hidden in a locked room adjacent to the master bedroom.
And it was at this moment they realized the murder suspect & scene was right there Infront of their eyes.
Unhesitatingly, they arrested Gladys Chania & charged her and the farmhand for murder.
Gladys Chania and the farmhand pleaded not guilty to the murder charges and were later released on a KSh 1 million bond under court-imposed conditions. The murder trial is still ongoing before the High Court, and no final judgment has been delivered. Sai ako nje while her husband is 6feet under.
