Oburu Odinga is outside the country. The ODM leader travelled to Dubai for treatment. He has been outside the country for 3 weeks.Last year he also travelled to Dubai for rest and treatment, he later recovered.
Oburu took the ODM mantle in 2025 after the death of his brother Raila Odinga.

Oburu Odinga Career
Early Career & Economics (1970s–1980s): Graduated with a PhD in Economics from People’s Friendship University (1970). Served as an economist in the Ministry of Planning and National Development from 1981 to 1994, and as a councillor in Kisumu Municipality (1974–1979).
Member of Parliament for Bondo (1994–2013): Stepped into national politics following his father’s death, serving for nearly two decades and holding key roles within the National Development Party (NDP) and later ODM.
Assistant Minister for Finance (2008–2013): Served in the Grand Coalition Government during President Mwai Kibaki’s administration. Raila Odinga forwarded his name for nomination.
EALA Member (2017–2022): Represented Kenya in the East African Legislative Assembly. Raila Odinga ensured that he got the seat
Senator for Siaya County (2022–Present): Elected in 2022 and serves as the Energy Committee Chairperson in the Senate.
ODM Party Leadership (2025): Following the passing of his brother Raila Odinga, Dr. Oburu was appointed as a party leader and chairman within the ODM party transition team in November 2025
