Bolt South Africa has specific requirements for new drivers. Below are requirements for drivers and cars in South Africa:

Bolt Driver Requirements in South Africa

To register as a driver on the Bolt platform, you must have the following driving requirements:

• A valid South African PrDP (use the Natis link to apply)
• A clear photo, preferably against the white background without a hat/sunglasses.
• An Android or iPhone Smartphone with GPS
• A clear criminal record acquired at your nearest Huru location.
  • Criminal record checks are mandatory and should not be older than 30 days.
  • The report result has to state “No previous convictions” in order for it to be accepted.
• To take trips, you need a vehicle. All vehicles in South Africa must pass the Dekra Vehicle Shuttle inspection, please visit your closest branch to complete this.
  • Don’t have a vehicle, No Problem! Indicate this on your submission and we’ll use your data to match you with a Fleet Owner.

If you have these requirements, you may continue to complete the following steps to sign up as a driver:

Step 1: Registration

Visit the application portal to start the registration process. You will be asked to enter the following details:

• Your contact details
• City (please select the city you would like to operate in here)
• Driving and/or vehicle documents.

Step 2: Complete training

• After registration, you will be prompted to complete an online safety training session within the app.
• Additionally, onboarding guidance can be requested from your app.

Step 3: Activation

• After you have completed the training session, kindly allow a period of 24-48 hours for profile activation
• You will receive an SMS with your username
• Please follow the instructions to create a password.

To be eligible for Uber platform, your vehicle must meet the following requirements:

• The vehicle must be in good cosmetic condition
• The vehicle must pass the Dekra Self-inspection.
