The government of Tanzania has banned foreigners from operating the following businesses:
1.Wholesale and retail trade (excluding supermarkets and specialised outlets)
2.Mobile money transfers
3.Mobile phone and electronic device repairs
4.Salons (except in hotels or for tourism)
5.Cleaning services
6.Small-scale mining
7.Postal and parcel delivery services
8.Local tour guiding
9.Operation of radio and TV stations
10.Museums and curio shop operations
11.Brokerage or agency in business and real estate
12.Clearing and forwarding services
13.On-farm crop purchasing
14.Gambling machine operations (outside casinos)
15.Ownership and operation of micro and small industries
If you operate any of the businesses, you will be fined $3,900 or get imprisoned for 6 months.
More than 40,000 Kenyans are operating successful businesses in Tanzania and they will be the most affected.
