EGYPT is building a new capital city, known as the New Administrative Capital (NAC). It is a massive urban development project located about 45 kilometers east of Cairo. The city is designed to alleviate congestion and pollution in Cairo.

KEY FEATURES

• The city will house the presidential palace, parliament, and government ministries, serving as the country’s administrative hub.

• The city is planned for 6-7 million people, with various residential districts, including villas, townhouses, and apartments.

• A central business district (CBD) is being developed, featuring skyscrapers, including the Iconic Tower, which will be Africa’s tallest building.

• A cultural district is being built, featuring an opera house, library, and museum.

• The city includes a massive central park, known as the Green River Park, which will stretch for 35 kilometers.

The first phase of the project is nearing completion, with many government buildings, residential areas, and infrastructure already built. It is expected to be fully completed in several phases, with a projected cost of over $100 million to move the government from Cairo to the NAC.
