His real name is Abraham Kithure Kindiki Kithure was born in 1972 July 17th. He is a father of two children, a husband to Joyce, lawyer by profession and a politician currently serving in the ministry of interior and administration of National Government.

Early Life

He was born in 1972 July 17th in Tharaka Nithi County. Kindiki grew up in a family of 10 children, his parents are Daniel and Ann Kindiki. His father is a pastor and he raised his children with discipline and Christian values.

Education Background

Kindiki began his education at Kamatungu Boarding Primary school and later attended Lenana high School where he got a C in his Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education, however because he was passionate about learning he was not satisfied with the results he got and opted to repeat the class in Tharaka Boys high school. Kithure attained a degree in law, in the year 1998 from the Moi University institution.

Kindiki later went on and obtained a Masters of Laws (LLM) in international Human Rights Law and Democracy from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.In 2001 Kithure Kindiki went to advocate’s Post Graduate Diploma in Legal studies at Kenya School of Law a basic requirement for one to qualify as an advocate to for completing a degree in law.

Career

 Kindiki has a pretty career journey after many years of serving as a lecturer, lawyer and a politician. He began his career in 1999, served as a lecturer in Moi University. He later joined the Nairobi University in 2004 and served there until 2005 when he later returned to Moi University as a head of department of Public law.

In April 2008 he was appointed Secretary of Cohesion in the Justice Ministry, however, he resigned from that position in 100days because of what he termed as “lack of political good will” to address challenges facing the Country.

He is also known to have served as a resettlement consultant legal unit division of international protection (UNHCR) in South Africa Branch, Pretoria. Kindiki also served at the United Nations International and National Organizations.  

Kindiki began his political career in 2011 having been chosen by William Ruto as his lawyer at International Court (ICC) after he was accused of the previous clashes that happened in 2007. Kindiki became the senator of Tharaka Nithi County in 2013 a position he stuck with for two terms successfully. In 2022 Kindiki had a desire to become the Tharaka Nithi Governor; however William Ruto requested him to drop his ambition in favor of a National Seat, he was also selected by Willliam Ruto in 2022 to be his running mate under the Kenya Kwanza coalition, but he dropped his ambition again in favor of Rigathi Gachagua.

He was officially named as the Cabinet Secretary for interior by President William Ruto in 2022 after Kenya Kwanza

Personal Life

Professor Kithure Kindki comes from a family of twelve,that is his parents Daniel and his mother Ann Kindiki. He has eight siblings, all highly educated, i.e. Nyagah Kindiki who is a professor at Moi University, Isaiah Kindiki, a professor of agriculture, Kithinji Kindiki lecturer at daystar university, Professor Moses Kindiki, Sara Kindiki medical expert at Masinde Muliro University, Margret Kindiki, biology teacher, Maryann Kindiki working at bureu of standards, Ruth Kindiki working with community development at Tharaka Nithi County.

Kindiki is married to his wife Joyce Gatiira Njagi since 2001 and they together have two children. Joyce is a lecturer at The University of Nairobi.
