Uber Kenya Vehicle Requirements

Before joining Uber Kenya, you MUST ensure that your vehicle meets some requirements. Below are the minimum requirements your vehicle should have for it to join Uber:

Your vehicle must-haves

• Model year 2012 and above
• 4-door car

Your paperwork

• Motor vehicle registration book
• PSV insurance
• Vehicle inspection report
• Business permit
• Partner National ID

Vehicle options in Kenya

Uber X

Only spacious sedans and stations wagons with an engine capacity above 1300cc and less than or equal to 1800cc will be eligible for Uber X category.

Additional requirements

• 4 door sedan in good condition
• Working windows and air conditioning
• No full-sized vans or truck vehicles
• No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles

Uber CHAPCHAP

UberCHAPCHAP is the everyday compact ride. Small hatchbacks with an engine capacity of 1300cc or less are only eligible for uberCHAPCHAP trips.

Additional Requirements

• Car in good condition
• 8 year age limit

Complete your vehicle inspection at your nearest inspection center. Get the details for centers below. Inspection is important because it assesses the condition of the vehicle before it starts operating on the road.

Book your inspection

Find the nearest vehicle inspection location below and schedule an appointment. The cost of vehicle inspection is KES 600 between 8:30 – 11AM on weekdays and KES 800 in any other operating hour.

Complete the Inspection

Complete your inspection on your booked time at the inspection center. There should be no damage indicated on the report.

Upload the inspection report

Once you pass, upload the clear / readable report to your account and ensure the vehicle registration number match the vehicle on your Uber profile. Uber does not cover repairs or maintenance to pass an inspection.
