Danson Omari is a famous lawyer and a known professor in Kenya who has handled all types of cases. Omari started his career as an unskilled professor and worked hard through his profession to become one of the best in his career. He has also been able to represent some of the big figures we have in the country, the likes of the former chief justice David Maraga, the current president William Ruto, Tob Cohen and other politicians and unknown individuals. Omari started practicing law at the age of 40yrs in the year 2008, he rose to fame when representing women dumped with their ‘’baby daddies.’

Early Life and Education

Omari was born in 1957 in Nyabite, Nyamira County. He joined Nyamira Primary School where he sat for his CPE in 1977. After completing his primary studies, he joined Ruiru Secondary School where he sat for the national examination, however, Omari said “I could only score division three,” which was equivalent to a C minus in KCSE today.

Omari took another chance and joined Kiabonyuru High School where he repeated his final exams. He later then proceeded to join form five and six at Muguga High School. Omari was later admitted to Kenyatta University to study bachelor of education, despite his desire to study law and wanting to repeat for another , he was convinced by his guardians to proceed with the Bachelor of Education.

In the year 2004 he applied to study law at Nairobi University and used all the money he had to pay school fees, however his wife stepped in and assisted him in bringing his dream to life. He was successful in completing his law career and was admitted as an advocate in 2011.

Career

Danstan Omari began his career as an untrained high school teacher in Kiabonyoru Secondary School. He later joined the National Youth Service for intense training which lasted for three months before proceeding to join university to professionally train as a teacher. After graduating from the university, Omari’s first assignment as a teacher was at Bomet County but he declined the offer, instead he requested for a transfer but was threatened with an interdiction. He later went back to teach at Kiabonyoru High School under the board where he taught before being reinstated by the Teachers Service Commission in 1992. He was then promoted to a Deputy Head Teacher at Kiabonyoru High School.

Omari was banned by the TSC from his teaching career. He later moved and worked as a hotel Manager in Nyeri after responding to the newspaper job post, he worked for six months before landing a position as a Manager in a night club in Nairobi. All this time Omari had a case with the Teaching Service Commission because they banned him previously from working for four years. Omari won the case and he got compensated for the four years he was out of work. He used the money he received from the case to buy matatus while he got assigned back to teaching at South Mugirango, later he was assigned to teach at Muthurwa Secondary School. Omari got admitted as an advocate on November 4th 2011.

He then proceeded and worked as a children officer which he later left and joined the Msuyoki Mogaka and Company Advocates. Currently, he is a lecturer at Catholic University where he teaches criminal law, professional ethics, jurisprudence etc.

Family

Omari’s parents are unknown, however he has a wife (Pamela) and she is lecturer at Catholic University and together they have two sons. Omari and his wife are a strong couple who have supported each other in their studies and many other unmentioned things.

Foundation

Omari is an alumni of Kenyatta and Nairobi University who runs two NGOs, that is Sheria Mtaani and another one for baby daddies. He also offers free legal services to young delinquents while the one for baby daddies offers legal services to mothers whose lovers refused to cater for child support.
